Dragonwell
Dragonwell
There are many versions claiming to be Dragonwell-like; our Imperial Grade leaves were sourced in Longjing Village in Spring 2026 and hand carried back to Callifornia with the utmost care by our tea sommelier. These leaves are more golden than average, denoting Imperial grade leaves are the tippy golden tender leaves and bud, usually saved only for the Emperor and and royal court dating back to the Tang Dynasty (900 CE).
Grown along the rolling hills surrounding West Lake in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China, Longjing tea masters have perfected the harvesting and roasting processes to craft a deeply green, savory cup that finishes with a subtle sweetness. These delicate, sword shaped tea leaves are pan-fired from legends of the old world. Myth has it, a dragon swims in the village town of Longjing’s water well. ‘Longjing’ translates directly to Dragonwell. Dragons, according to Chinese legend, have the ability to control rain. In this village, a dragon has been said to reside in the local well. The dragon’s movement causes rainfall and brings water and life to harvests. Others say that this same well, affected by dense groundwater, gives the illusion of a swirling dragon beneath the water whenever it rains.
